Experiment overview

A Valentine’s Day event that combined educational lecture with hands-on workshop exploring the evolution of intimate technologies.

The gathering created a rare space for open dialogue about how technological innovation shapes our most personal experiences while examining the environmental and psychological implications of these developments.

Main objectives

The project approached intimate technology through:

Historical context: tracing the evolution of sex toys and examining how the adult entertainment industry has driven technological innovation

Educational exploration: providing accurate anatomical information through expert demonstration, challenging misconceptions about sexuality

Participatory design: engaging attendees in creating conceptual prototypes that addressed both functional and aesthetic considerations of intimate devices

Achieved results

The event created a comfortable environment for discussing typically taboo subjects, evidenced by enthusiastic participation in both discussions and workshops.

The sexologist’s presentation using a 3D printed clitoris model provided many participants with unprecedented insights into female anatomy.

The prototype development session demonstrated how speculative prototyping can be applied to intimate products, resulting in creative concepts that balanced functionality with user experience.

Main reflection

This exploration revealed profound tensions between technological advancement and human connection in our most intimate experiences.

While technology offers new possibilities for pleasure and self-discovery, it may simultaneously diminish our capacity for subtle human connection and embodied awareness.

The environmental impact of electronic intimate devices and the energy consumption of adult content streaming raise important environmental concerns rarely addressed in discussions of sexual technology.

Although this project was a success, today I wonder if moving sexuality into the virtual sphere has taken something valuable from us - a piece of our humanity, our ability to experience true closeness.

This is a reflection that stays with me when I think about the future of human intimacy in a world dominated by technology.
