Project overview
A year-long volunteer project developed in collaboration with a local orphanage, transforming abstract ideas of social responsibility into consistent, tangible action.
The project focused on building long-term relationships through regular presence and care, moving beyond symbolic gestures toward sustained engagement. Activities included organising birthday celebrations, supporting educational initiatives, coordinating fundraising efforts, and accompanying children during outings and trips — establishing trust and continuity in their everyday lives.
Achieved results
The project provided stable, ongoing support through regular participation in the orphanage’s daily and special activities.
Memorable moments such as organising a giant inflatable slide for Children’s Day or hosting an educational session in collaboration with a local Maker Space introduced joy, curiosity and moments of discovery into the children’s environment.
Fundraising initiatives successfully extended the circle of care, allowing the project to scale its impact beyond individual capacity and foster a broader community of support.
Main reflection
This project revealed that meaningful community building is not rooted in shared backgrounds, but in genuine presence, empathy and respect.
It showed that different worlds can coexist and enrich one another when connected through consistent care and authentic engagement. The experience reinforced the understanding that real social change emerges not from grand gestures, but from patience, reliability and human connection.
