Project overview
A dedicated workshop for Cultural Institutions that reframed digital transformation from a technological upgrade into a values-driven decision-making process.
The initiative exposed how everyday digital choices shape institutional responsibility influencing privacy protection, inclusivity, attention quality, environmental impact and accessibility and positioned technology not as neutral infrastructure but as an ethical extension of cultural missions.
Main objectives
The project redefined institutional approaches to digital transformation by:
☀︎ Shifting focus from modernization for its own sake to technology as an expression of institutional values
☀︎ Demonstrating how device requirements directly affect audience accessibility and social inclusion
☀︎ Introducing open-source and low-barrier digital tools as affordable, mission-aligned alternatives to proprietary systems
☀︎ Encouraging critical reflection on privacy, digital wellbeing and resource consumption within cultural spaces
Achieved results
The workshop successfully transformed participants’ perception of digital transformation from a purely operational task into a strategic, ethical responsibility.
By addressing device compatibility and access, institutions became aware of how seemingly neutral digital requirements can unintentionally exclude entire audiences.
The introduction of Open Source solutions provided concrete, budget-sensitive pathways for implementation, enabling institutions to make technologically responsible choices without compromising financial realities.
Main reflection
This initiative revealed the paradox within many cultural institutions: while actively promoting accessibility and inclusivity in physical spaces, they often reproduce exclusion through their digital infrastructures.
Participants’ strong interest in Open Source alternatives highlighted how practical, affordable and ethically aligned tools hold the greatest potential for systemic change.
Ultimately, the workshop demonstrated that meaningful digital transformation occurs when technology decisions embody institutional values: turning digital infrastructure into a form of cultural stewardship rather than mere modernization.
